Eagles Compete in Pre-Season Tournaments

The Maranatha Baptist Christian School Eagles of El Dorado recently participated in two pre-season senior high tournaments in basketball and volleyball.



The Eagles traveled to Malvern October 14-15 for the Arkansas Christian School Association (ACSA) Senior Pre-Season tournament. The Lady Eagles volleyball team finished the tournament with a 2-2 record, with Natalie Burns being named to the All-Tournament team.

The Eagles basketball team went undefeated in tournament play, finishing as pre-season state champions. Braxton Griffin was named to the All-Tournament team and Dolton Weido was named tournament MVP.

The following week, October 21-23, the Eagles traveled to Lebanon, MO for the senior high fall invitational to compete with teams from four states.

The Eagles basketball team once again went undefeated in tournament play and was crowned tournament champions. Jag Mullinax and Dolton Weido were named to the All-Tournament team and Dolton Weido was named tournament MVP.

The Eagles and Lady Eagles kick off regular season junior high and senior high play on November 5. The volleyball team is coached by J.D. Weido and Stefanie Weido; the basketball team is coached by Joe Weido and Josh Weido.

Maranatha Baptist receives SPACS Accreditation


Maranatha Baptist Christian School just received our updated Certificate of Accreditation from the Southern Plains Association of Christian Schools. Southern Plains Association of Christian Schools (SPACS) is a non-profit regional accrediting agency designed to evaluate private, non-public schools for grades K3-12. They serve Christian schools in Arkansas, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Oklahoma. 

"We are very pleased to continue full accreditation status through SPACS," said Bro. Bob Weido, principal at Maranatha Baptist Christian School. "Our students and faculty work diligently throughout the year to maintain the highest standards of Christian education, and we are honored to receive recognition for our efforts."

Maranatha Baptist Christian School is a ministry of Bible Baptist Church. It provides college-preparatory education for grades K4-12 in a nurturing and Christian environment.

MBCS Sweeps Columbia Christian

The Maranatha Baptist Eagles traveled to Magnolia this week to take on the Columbia Christian Crusaders in junior high and senior high basketball.

The junior high Eagles started the night with a win in this season's non-conference opener. Braxton Griffin led the Eagles with 15 points, followed by Jack Bishop with 12. Roman Mullinax went 2 for 2 from the three-point line, and the team shot 100% on free throws.

The senior high Eagles followed with a win as well. Top scorers were Jag Mullinax and Jack Bishop with nine points each, followed by Landon Griffin with eight, Dolton Weido with seven, and Cooper Weido with six.

Jack Bishop went 3 for 3 from the three-point line while Jag Mullinax, Landon Griffin, and Cooper Weido each went 2 for 2 in free throws.
